Jennifer WheelerJennifer Wheeler, native of Plano, TX, is so excited to be the new choir director at Nelson Middle School! Her love of music started in elementary school and carried on throughout her middle school and high school years. She started taking private voice and piano lessons in middle school, which deepened her love of music even more.
Mrs. Wheeler graduated from Plano Senior High School knowing she wanted to major in music in college. She graduated from LSU with a Bachelors and Masters in Vocal Performance. She then went on to have a successful opera career, but after several years of touring, she realized life on the road wasn't for her. She returned to Plano to start her certification in music education while also teaching private voice lessons. Once she was certified, she starting teaching choir, and has felt at home ever since. Mrs. Wheeler's choirs have earned superior ratings in solo and ensemble, and sweepstakes awards at UIL. Mrs. Wheeler loves singing, and is honored to be a part of the Highland Park Chorale and High;land Park Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir in Dallas. She has been a featured soloist for both choirs multiple times. You can see her on stage singing the soprano solos in Handel's Messiah in December 2019. Mrs. Wheeler has the BEST family - her husband, Clay, who is a theatre teacher in Plano, her pitbull, Ginny, who is super sweet and cuddly, and her daughter, Winnie, who will be turning 2 this September. Winnie is the light of Mrs. Wheeler's life, and she can't wait for you all to meet her! Mrs. Wheeler can't wait to meet all of her students at Nelson, and create beautiful music with one another! |
